The Prairie Political Science Association was formed in Saskatoon in June 2007 by representatives from ten departments and schools in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba and with the support of colleagues from other regional political science associations in Canada.
The Association aims to foster the study of political science. It organizes an annual conference at which members present and discuss their own and others research. Across the year, it provides a forum for the exchange of information on academic, pedagogical, professional and administrative matters that are of common concern to members and regional political science associations.
